Executor Colonel Nicholas SMITH, Major George ESKRIDGE; !WILL: 4 May 1733 King George Co, VA Wills A-238 WILL OF WILLIAM GRANT, JR. In the Name of God Amen. I William Grant, Jr., being sick and weak yet in perfect sense. First I return my soul to God that gave it and my body to the Earth, when my will and desire is that after my debts are paid that my well beloved wife Mary Grant should enjoy all my whole estate both real and personal during her widdowhood and my desire after if my wife should marry again that my brother John Grant should take my two children and take care of them untill they come to the age of eighteen years and that my estate be equally divided between my two children Elizabeth and Mary. I appoint my beloved wife Mary Grant and my brother John Grant my sole Executors. Witness my hand and seal (not dated). His William (/) Grant (seal) Mark Test: Charles Dean John Brisco At a court held for King George County the 4th day of May 1733. The last Will & Testament of William Grant was presented into Court by Mary Grant his Widdow & John Grant his Executors who made oath thereto and the same was proved by the oath of Charles Dean and admitted to record. Pg. 238 GRANT, WILLIAM (JR.) (d.t., 1732), William Grant Jr., (c. 1707-1732) was murdered late in 1732; there are some particulars in COB#1, pg. 626-628 and in COB#1, pg. 635, 4 May 1744, it is noted that his widow, Mary Grant, presented his will in court but declared she would not accept the provisions made for her in the said testament, however, she accepted the executorship of the said will and on the same day entered into bond with John Grant, William Grant Sr., and Charles Deane, her securities (BB#1, p. 31 b). An inventory of the estate of William Grant Jr., deceased was returned to court on 1 June 1733 and recorded in I#1, p. 161. It appears the widow Mary ( ) Grant shortly drops from the records and John Grant (c. 1704-1762) became the acting executor and guardian of Elizabeth Grant and Mary Grant only children and infant daughters of William Grant, Jr., deceased. In this capacity he filed detailed accounts in Fiduciary Account Book #3, pg. 18-28, 1738-1746, showing dispursements for various items for the two girls including their board &c: By 2 December 1743 Elizabeth Grant, the elder daughter, had married (as his first wife) Anderson Doniphan, Gentlemen, (c. 1720-1761) and shortley thereafter Mary Grant, the younger daughter , married William Wright of Prince William County and he was gentlemen justice there in 1746. pg. 239: GRANT, WILLIAM (d.i., 1736). COB#2, pg. 63: & May 1736 = Amdinistration on the estate of William Grant, deceased, is granted to Margaret Grant, his widow, and on the same day she entered into bond as his administratrix with John Glendening, her security (BB#2,pg.25 b). The inventory of his estate was taken by John Steward, Jeremiah Bronough and William Stringfellow and recorded 4 June 1736 in I #1, pgs. 225-226. Her bond was for 150 pounds C.M. | Grant, William (I71342)

Jesse married Mary Dew, daughter of old Christopher Dew ; they had no children ; she died, and he married a second wife, the widow of Elias Townsend; she had been the widow of Alfred Kirven, and was originally Elizabeth Tart, daughter of old Enos Tart, a notable man in his day, and of whom something may be said hereinafter ; by her he had no child or children ; both have been dead for some years. John Perritt, the youngest brother of old David Perritt, died in 1840 or 1841, a young single man, from the bite of a rattlesnake ; he was with a surveying party about the Marlborough line, and in toward the Great Pee Dee River, when the snake bit him; there was no house near them and no doctor near; he was carried two miles to the nearest house and a doctor was finally procured, but too late; he died that same night; a young man of fine character and good habits, and was spoken well of by all who knew him. ; !NOTES:Above, Sellers mistakenly refers to the children of Joseph Perritt (Sr) as brothers to David Perritt. They would have been David's nephews instead, assuming he and Joseph (Sr) were brothers, as seems to be the case (but isn't proven).; !REFERENCE: A History of Marion County, South Carolina From Its Earliest Times to the Present, 1901, by W. Of her Kirvin children, the oldest, Lucinda, died just as she was budding into womanhood. The other daughter, whose name is not remembered, married James Fore, and had four children, three daughters and a son; of these, two of the daughters married Berrys— Stephen Berry and William Berry ; the other daughter married Powers, a son of Mitchel Powers. The son, Thomas E. Fore, is now one of our good citizens, and has a family. | Kirvin, Alfred (I17892)
